True Blue Firmware v2.5 Released

True Blue, the dongle which has been at the center of controversy lately, has a new firmware for those sporting it. The new v2.5 firmware is a "game compatibility" update which will add support for the rest of games requiring v3.60+ to play. On top of that, the new firmware will be prepping for the eventual release of the 4.01 firmware which is currently in debug testing.
The v2.5 firmware is more of a hotfix, as opposed to a full fledged update and thus, will require the previous v2.0 firmware already flashed to the dongle in order for it to be installed. You can grab both from True Blue's website below.
With the dongle already making way for 4.0+ support, will it eventually move to a position where it's in a league of its own? Or will clones such as the JB-King get up and running and be able to deliver the competition? There's only one way to find out.

ebootFIX! ebootMOD!

If you're looking to fix or mod your EBOOTs then deank, developer of multiMAN, has something for you ... and you, and you ... and just about anyone else who is sporting a hacked PS3 wanting to play backups on a lower firmware version -- lower than the game may actually require. Download the package below and inside you'll find a whole whack of files, but we're going to keep the attention on "ebootFIX.exe" and "ebootMOD.exe."
ebootFIX.exe
This tool processes whole game folders; drag & drop the folder of whatever PS3 game, the parent folder holding all the game files and sub-folders onto this executable and after it crunches away you'll be left with two new folders: [NPDRM] and [RETAIL].
What's the diff? From _readme.txt:

[NPDRM] - content ready to be installed as PSN-style XMB game: You will find two PKG files in the folder. The tool will decrypt and sign all executables (EBOOT.BIN and other .self / .sprx files) to make them compatible with lower firmware versions. Follow the generated INSTRUCTIONS in [NPDRM] folder.
[RETAIL] - all files which you can replace in your original backup copy to play the game via a Game Manager.

ebootMOD.exe
This one takes a single file -- drag & drop an EBOOT.BIN or a .self or .sprx -- and it'll result in a decrypted and signed file that is again compatible with lower firmware versions.
Of course you can find more info in "_readme.txt" and at the source. Also included is a version of multiMAN v1.16.11; a test build that properly handles sprx files when using "shadow copy."

multiMAN packs many facets: It's a full-fledged Backup Manager, a File Manager, an FTP server, and an AVCHD and BDMV (Blu-ray) video player ... plus it does a lot more. It's highly configurable with many different display modes. multiMAN is open source -- you can find the source code right here.
multiMAN 02.09.02 CHANGELOG

When you start a PSX game, multiMAN will check if the game requires ps1emu or ps1netemu. There is a list of 160 games which seem to require ps1netemu to be used. So if it happens that the game you start (using the regular "Load (PSX/PS3)") is found in the list, multiMAN will start the proper emulator.
